Back in time – tuesday June 9th
Tuesday June 9th (my birthday) we took the train from Taipei to Shin-Ju to teach at the National Chupei Senior High School. Shin-Ju is a big city about 1 hour south of Taipei which is famous for IT in Taiwan.
The class was huge with 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students – dressed in red, blue and black, depicting their classes. The 3rd year who are about to graduate showed us their choreography which was enormously impressive. Their technique is stunning, ALL of them. We heard that some of them had applied to the 3 universities in Taipei where you can study dance, and had been rejected. To us this was incomprehensible. We encouraged them to think about coming to the US to study. I don’t know what it is with the training these young students receive but the results are definitely impressive.
